This position oversees and manages all aspects of student accounts and loans, reconciles and monitors loan funds, servicing and collecting loans and accounts receivable, handling registration issues, establishing office policy and procedures, and frequently makes decisions by exercising discretion and independent judgement. Primary contact for Student Account issues in Director's absence.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience in higher education, student administration, third party payment processors, finance and data warehouse systems, preferred.
- Knowledge/Use of Banner ERP preferred.
- Experience with Perkins and Institutional Loan collection.
- Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and accounting programs required.
- Ability to analyse, synthesize and organize data, and present findings in a comprehensible manner for different audiences.
- Basic knowledge of accounting with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to interface efficiently and effectively with all campus employees, students, and parents.
- A demonstrated commitment to superior customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy. Strong commitment to a quality work product.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.
- Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.

- Skilled in developing and determining corrective employment/performance/behavioural strategies, as needed.
- Bachelor's degree Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other closely related field.
- Three to five years of total related work experience. Proficiency in detailed accounting transactions, processing, and systems.

- Must have the ability to be composed as all time.
- Must have the ability to sit for an extended period of time.
- Work environment: The noise level in the work environment will be moderate.

Advertised Job Duties
- Manages all aspects of billing of all undergraduate/graduate students' accounts. Maintains and verifies billing information, reviews and processes payments, makes billing adjustments and processes refunds.
- Manages accounts receivable and reconciles payment plan monthly. Arranges payment plans with families and monitors for outstanding amounts. Performs collection activities on delinquent accounts. Serves as customer service contact for students, parents/authorized individuals including third parties for all billing, payment, and collections matters.
- Works with Financial Aid to review eligibility and update loan programs including coordination with related disbursement procedures.
- Works with Accounting Department to prepares necessary reports, schedules, monthly and year-end account reconciliations, and notes required for year-end financial statements.
- Prepares analysis of outstanding balances, reconciliation of charges to student accounts, and proposes journal entries when appropriate. Prepares Banner deposits and reconciles bank reports and researches discrepancies.
- Maintains, upholds, and updates institutional policies and procedures pertaining to student accounts to keep best standard practices and compliance, institutional documentation, website, and handbooks.
- Supervises and trains other Student Business Services Representatives and assigns tasks as needed. Resolves account issues and system problems for Student Business Services Representatives. Serves as primary contact for student account issues in the Director's absence.
- The position requires flexibility, including occasional work on weekends and after regular business hours to meet critical deadlines needed to support departmental operations.
