Job Description
Overview

An early-stage renewable energy technology company is seeking a new business partner who brings both strong sales and business development as well with a broad network in renewables asset management. This early-stage technology company is transforming the way renewable energy owners and operators manage their assets. Its intelligent platform delivers long-term value for clients through sticky, subscription-based products that support complex portfolios and operational excellence. Despite being at an early stage of growth, the business has already established significant credibility, having onboarded several high-profile clients in the renewable energy sector.

Role Overview

The company is seeking a Business Development professional with deep experience and a strong network in renewable energy asset management. This role is critical to the next phase of growth as the business continues to expand its market presence and strengthen its position as a trusted solutions partner to asset owners, operators, and investors. The sales cycle for the technology averages around 10 months, requiring a persistent, strategic, and relationship-focused individual who can manage long sales processes while unlocking new opportunities in the renewables market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand sales channels with renewable energy asset managers, owners, and operators.
  • Leverage an established network in the sector to generate high-value leads and create access to key decision makers.
  • Build and nurture client relationships throughout long sales cycles, maintaining consistent engagement and value-driven touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with leadership to refine go-to-market strategies and align customer feedback with ongoing product development.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and support the closing of multi-year subscription deals.
  • Represent the company at industry events, networking opportunities, and client pitches to enhance brand visibility.
Required Skillset and Experience
  • Proven track record in business development or sales within renewable energy, ideally with exposure to asset management or software solutions supporting renewable portfolios.
  • A well-established network of decision makers among asset owners, operators, and managers across solar, wind, or storage.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage long, consultative sales cycles (6-12 months) with resilience, structure, and persistence.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a small, fast-moving, and evolving company environment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Compensation

This role offers an entrepreneurial package. While a modest base salary may be available, compensation is primarily performance-based, including commission, bonuses, and potential equity participation. It will suit an individual motivated by the combination of strong sales incentives and the long-term value of helping grow an innovative company in the renewable energy space.
