Business and Finance Manager

The Business and Finance Manager will lead on financial planning and analysis, translating complex financial information into clear insights to support partner decision-making. The postholder will work closely with the Practice Manager to deliver both strategic and operational objectives.
Main duties of the jobEnsuring that the practice is economically secure, financial controls are met and that staff are employed in a consistent and ethical fashion.
They will report to the two managing GP partners on a weekly basis.
They will meet both their individual and joint aims and responsibilities.
Job responsibilities- The Business and Finance Manager will lead on financial planning and analysis, translating complex financial information into clear insights to support partner decision-making. The postholder will work closely with the Practice Manager to deliver both strategic and operational objectives.
- Provide regular reports
- Enter accounts data and reconcile monthly
- Run staff payroll and process PAYE & Superannuation monthly
- Chase payments
- Produce necessary reports for the partners as requested
- Liaise with partner or staff member regarding planned and unplanned building maintenance and to ensure all necessary building surveys are carried out
- Instigate and facilitate lease negotiations
- Co-ordinate 3 yearly notional rent review
- Staff related issues including staff grievance and disciplinary matters
- Recruitment and selection
- Maintain good knowledge of and apply employment law
- Provide mentorship to junior management staff
- Maintenance of HR records including up-to-date DBS checks
- Maintain good knowledge of Practice CQC requirements
- Maintain all documentation pertaining to CQC
- Liaise with the Partners
- Information Governance Lead
- Oversee and co-ordinate the completion of relevant documents and ensure policies are being followed
- Deal with complaints
- Discuss significant events at partnership meetings
- Meet with one of the Partners each week
- All other duties reasonably expected of this post but not listed above.
- Proficient in using Xero
- Financial management and budgeting skills
- Knowledge of HR law
- Able to organise and supervise financial investigations as required
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of QOF, QIF, GMS and other NHS/Non-NHS contracts
- Further professional qualifications
- 1+ year in primary care
- 1+ year in the private sector
- Understanding of CQC requirements
- Proficiency with Xero
- A strong history of being trusted with positions of responsibility
- Experience outside of the NHS
- Experience of North Staffordshire and knowledge of the issues facing the Staffordshire Moorlands.
