Business & Finance Estimator

A business and finance estimator analyzes project blueprints, tender documents, and specifications to calculate the expenses of materials, labor, transport, and equipment. They compile competitive bid packages, source supplier quotes, negotiate terms, and monitor financial risks such as inflation or currency fluctuations. This role tracks the project's financial lifecycle by comparing estimated costs with actual expenditures to prevent cost overruns.

Key Responsibilities

• Study project blueprints, tender documents, and specifications to calculate material, labor, transport, and equipment expenses.
• Compile detailed, competitive price lists and bid packages for clients and stakeholders.
• Source quotes from external suppliers and negotiate terms for the best pricing.
• Identify potential financial risks and factor market trends (inflation, currency) into forecasts.
• Monitor project financial lifecycle by comparing estimated vs. actual expenditures to prevent cost overruns.
• Collaborate on-site with engineers, architects, and sales teams as needed.

Skill & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in estimating, finance, or related roles.
• Advanced proficiency in financial modeling tools (Microsoft Excel) and database systems.
• Strong commercial awareness (understanding how cost estimations translate into profitability).
• Strong analytical thinking and data analysis/forecasting capabilities.
• Degree or professional qualification in finance, business management, quantity surveying, or civil engineering (typically required).
