Job Description

Role: Business Analyst - Commodities Trading, Oil & Gas Company

Consulting Seniority: Consultant - Manager

Day rate: £250-£400/day (Outside IR35)

Project duration: 2-5 months

Location: 3 days on-site in London, 2 days working remotely

We are partnered with a small but mighty strategy and data consultancy. They are continuing to strengthen their data and analytics service line and are seeking freelance support from mid-late July.

They're looking for a highly experienced business analyst who understands the oil & gas trading domain deeply, can communicate across business and tech teams, document requirements precisely, and work efficiently in agile environments. Specialised knowledge in blending, pricing, or regulatory compliance is a plus.

Tasks

Requirements
  • An independent consultant
  • 10+ years of Business Analysis experience in commodity trading (preferably Oil or/& Gas Trading)
  • Solid understanding of physical oil trading workflows, including front, middle, and back-office functions
  • Proficient with non-linear gasoline blending, Crude Arbs calculation. Alternatively experience in Compulsory Stock Obligation
  • Familiarity with trade lifecycle processes: deal entry, confirmation, scheduling, pricing, risk reporting, P&L, settlement
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills: BRD, FRD, process mapping, data dictionaries, use cases
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with ability to engage traders, risk managers, IT, and operations
  • Ability to work in fast paced agile environment and lead cross-functional workshops
