The Job

We are working on behalf of a leading poultry business to recruit a Broiler Farm Manager for a modern broiler farm near Thirsk, North Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced poultry professional to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of a five-shed broiler unit, housing approximately 50,000 birds per shed. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering excellent flock performance while maintaining the highest standards of bird welfare, biosecurity and site management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation of a five-shed commercial broiler farm
• Monitor bird health, welfare and performance throughout each crop
• Maintain environmental controls, including ventilation, heating and water systems
• Monitor feed and water consumption, bird weights and mortality to optimise performance
• Ensure strict biosecurity procedures are maintained across the site
• Work closely with veterinarians, field managers and technical teams
• Prepare sheds for chick placement and manage turnaround between crops
• Maintain accurate flock records, production data and compliance documentation
• Carry out routine equipment inspections and coordinate maintenance where required
• Lead by example to maintain exceptionally high standards across the farm
• Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and poultry assurance schemes

The Candidate

• Previous experience managing or supervising a commercial broiler farm
• Excellent poultry husbandry, stockmanship and flock management skills
• Good understanding of environmental management and broiler performance
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of the farm operation
• Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Committed to achieving the highest standards of bird welfare and production performance
• Poultry qualification desirable but not essential
• Experience operating telehandlers or tractors advantageous
• Knowledge of modern poultry management systems and Red Tractor assurance standards beneficial

• Salary of £37,000 per annum DOE

Candidate Requirements

All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
