BREEAM Consultant Location: Manchester (with hybrid working options) Salary: £40,000-£48,000 (DOE) About the Opportunity

Are you a sustainability professional passionate about championing environmental performance in the built environment? This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, award-winning architectural practice with a strong reputation for sustainable design and placemaking. As a BREEAM Consultant, you'll play a pivotal role in embedding high-performance sustainability standards across a diverse portfolio of projects. You'll be part of a dynamic Sustainability and Architecture team that values environmental stewardship, innovation, and meaningful impact - all within a people-centred and purpose-driven business.

Why This Is a Great Role
  • Work with a Sustainability-Led Practice: Join a multidisciplinary, B Corp-certified architectural practice committed to continuous improvement, social value, and climate action.
  • Impactful, High-Profile Work: Contribute to projects where sustainability matters - from early BREEAM pre-assessments to post-construction reviews - shaping outcomes that help deliver better buildings for communities and the planet.
  • Supportive, Collaborative Culture: The organisation places people at its core, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where teamwork, creativity, and shared purpose thrive. Wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and professional development are embedded in the culture.
  • Professional Growth & Development: With a comprehensive training programme, mentorship and coaching initiatives, quarterly performance conversations, and a suite of learning resources, you'll be empowered to grow your expertise and career.
  • Hybrid & Flexible Working: Benefit from flexible and hybrid working arrangements that support a healthy work/life balance, with additional perks such as enhanced holiday entitlement, bonus opportunities, social events, and wellbeing initiatives.
Role Overview & Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of BREEAM assessments, from pre-assessment to post-construction review.
  • Lead design-stage BREEAM assessment work, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure robust sustainability outcomes.
  • Support continuous improvement in sustainability workflows across the practice.
  • Provide day-to-day project administration and assist in financial and organisational aspects of your assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams to help integrate environmental standards throughout the design and delivery process.
About You
  • An excellent knowledge of BREEAM and good project management skills.
  • A working knowledge of BREEAM assessment management platforms such as TrackerPlus and IES Tap would be beneficial, but not essential. A full suite of training can be offered.
  • BREEAM AP qualifications would also be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Proven organisational, communication and project management skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable attitude with a drive for excellence.
  • A team player who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting.
Why This Practice?

With a 30-year track record in sustainable, community-focused architecture and a 90+ strong team of professionals across Manchester and London, this practice blends design excellence with environmental leadership. Its commitment to sustainability is reflected not only in project outcomes but in its B Corp-certified business model and ISO14001-aligned environmental approach.

Benefits & Culture Highlights
  • People-First Ethos with wellbeing committees and support for physical, mental and financial health.
  • Flexible & Hybrid Working to help you manage your time and commitments effectively.
  • Career Development Support, CPD & Mentoring to help you realise your potential.
  • Quarterly Team Events & Recognition Awards that celebrate achievements and build community.
  • Social Value & Volunteering Days, reflecting the firm's commitment to positive community impact.
