Board Chair and Board Members: Marsh Farm Neighbourhood Area Board

The government is giving Marsh Farm up to £20 million over the next 10 years to fund meaningful improvements. Local residents decide where the money is spent. A Neighbourhood Board, supported by local MP Sarah Owen, Luton Council and the government, will be made up of and chaired by Marsh Farm residents. It has broad powers to improve life in Marsh Farm. We're now looking for people to join the board and for a Chair to head it.

If you have deep connections within the Marsh Farm neighbourhood boundary and are interested in becoming part of the Marsh Farm Neighbourhood Board, please see the details below. The recruitment process for the Chair and Board members is being commenced at the same time, but the Chair of the Board will be interviewed and appointed prior to any Board members.
Board Members Responsibilities- Oversee community engagement, shape a shared local vision, and guide future investment into each of the respective areas
- Collectively lead on the development of the Pride in Place Plan for Marsh Farm
- Decide how funding will be spent
- Support delivery of the Plan
- Commitment of two days per month
- Attend quarterly Board meetings
- Attend occasional engagement sessions
- Read all Board papers ahead of each Board meeting
- Sign up to a code of conduct based on the Seven Principles of Public Life (the Nolan Principles)
- Declare any potential conflicts of interest; support will be provided on how to do this once Board members are selected
- Be prepared to welcome and listen to the views of others on the board and within the community
- Help to think about solutions to community issues, but not by pushing personal agendas
- Be open to learn and to receive feedback on their role
Board meetings will be held in person and, where possible, within Marsh Farm.
EligibilityBoard Members may be residents, but can also be local businesspeople, grassroots campaigners, workplace representatives, faith and community leaders, or from a local sport, arts, cultural or heritage organisation, and public agencies such as a local school or health care provider.
Board Members will not be expected to have been a member of a Board or held a similar position before.
Board Members should have a deep connection living and/or working in Marsh Farm.

Interviews for the Chair: 10 am to 1 pm on the 26 th & 27 th June 2026 (TBC).
