Job Description

Volleyball England is the recognised National Governing Body for volleyball, beach volleyball and sitting volleyball in England and is responsible for the delivery, development and promotion of the three disciplines.

It was founded in 1972 as the English Volleyball Association, replacing the Amateur Volleyball Association of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which itself was established in 1955.

We run the National Volleyball League, the top volleyball competition in England for clubs, support England national team athletes to compete internationally, and grow and develop the game by working closely with our network of clubs. We also organise national sitting volleyball competitions. UKBT is a national partner for beach volleyball competitions in England.

About The Role

Volleyball England is seeking voluntary Board Members, whose primary role will be to provide strategic direction and leadership. The Board is made up of (up to 12) volunteer Directors with a mix of skills and experience, but with a common aim to develop volleyball within England using the organisation's The Game Plan strategy. In accordance with the Code for Sports Governance Board, roles have a maximum term limit which gives the opportunity to refresh Board roles on a rotating basis.

Volleyball England is now actively seeking candidates to continue growth and improvement of all disciplines by connecting the sport at all levels and leveraging its strengths, always bearing in mind the vision is to ensure that everyone in the sport feels a sense of belonging. There is a strong desire to develop a Board from a diverse group of people with a wide range of skills, experience, and knowledge.

In particular, Volleyball England is looking for people with a strong volleyball knowledge and experience, skills in either public affairs and government advocacy or education/youth work. Prior experience is always welcome but it is not essential; we are looking for committed individuals that share the organisation's vision and passion for sport at all levels.

The Volleyball England Board has two types of Director (in compliance with its Articles and the Sport England Code for Sports Governance) - Independent Directors (which are individuals that are free from any close connection to the organisation) and Elected Directors (who must be or become members of Volleyball England and are voted in at the organisation's AGM from a Board recommendation).

Volleyball England is currently looking to recruit to two vacant Elected Board members.
