Job Description
Bishopston Primary School : Teaching Assistant

(closing date: 31/05/26)(10pm) Grade 4, SCP 5-6, £25,583-25,989. Required for 1 September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter 39 weeks per annum, 27.5 Hours per week. Shortlisting: Monday 1 June 2026. Interviews: Monday 8 June 2026 The governors are seeking to appoint an excellent and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated and skilled team of professionals in our happy and caring school.

The successful candidate will have the desire and energy to work with children, including children with additional learning needs.

We are looking for someone who:

  • is able to work effectively as part of a team
  • has excellent communication skills and is committed to building positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff
  • has experience of delivering high quality teaching and learning
  • enthusiasm, energy and self-motivation to engage children in all areas of learning
  • is flexible and reactive to the needs of pupils in their care
  • is committed to high standards and is willing to help develop high quality learning experiences
  • will be willing to contribute to the broader life of the school community, e.g. supporting events

Responsibilities will include:

  • supporting learners to achieve their full potential
  • facilitating high quality learning activities
  • delivering and embedding therapy programmes
  • delivering outdoor learning sessions
  • delivering a programme for the development of social communication and interaction skills
  • modifying the curriculum to ensure it is accessed
  • monitoring IDP targets
  • supporting learning in groups
  • taking an active role in the life of the school
