Lead, Inspire, Thrive - Shape the Future with Birch Veterinary Centre

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at Birch Vets on a 12-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave for the Clinical Director, with the possibility to stay on in a permanent role.

We are a busy first opinion three-practice group requiring an enthusiastic new team member to join us. The role is a mix of consulting and operating/procedures. Our client base includes a range of demographics, with many insured clients and a focus on comprehensive medical workups and extensive soft tissue & orthopaedic surgeries. We also work closely with Merseyside Police, Guide Dogs for the Blind and other Wirral charities.

Rota

Work-life balance that works for you. Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours makes it easy to achieve balance. Typically, a full-time role involves 40 hours per week with a weekend rota of 1:3 (9am-1pm/9am-2pm). We offer early finishes on some days (1pm or 4pm) and are open to flexible or reduced hours to suit individual needs.

About us

You will join an experienced and supportive team of 6 Vets, 5 RVNs and 7 Support staff, with a well-established practice management structure. Coaching and mentoring are available. We have 2 medicine cert holders and 1 pending; a surgical cert holder is currently in practice.

Our main premises in Oxton are long established and well equipped. The practice has 4 consult rooms, 2 theatres, a dental suite with a recently installed dental x-ray and a digital x-ray with Vet CT. We have an in-house lab (Idexx Lasercyte catalyst), multiparameter anaesthetic monitors and an extensive range of soft tissue and orthopaedic equipment. We also operate two smaller consulting-only sites fully equipped for routine appointments.

The location

Work in a wonderful part of the country: the Wirral Peninsula. Enjoy coastal scenery, outdoor activities and easy access to Liverpool, with Wales just 25 minutes away. The area offers beaches, green spaces and vibrant culture nearby.
