An exciting opportunity has become available for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join our team here at Birch Vets to support the vet team on a 12-month fixed term contract whilst the Clinical Director is on maternity leave with a the opportunity to stay on after these 12 months in a perm role.
We are a busy first opinion 3 practice group requiring an enthusiastic new team member to join our team. The role is a mix of consulting and operating/procedures. We have a range of demographics forming our growing client base, with many insured clients or just those wanting the best for their pets, allowing comprehensive medical workups and extensive soft tissue & orthopaedic surgeries. We also work closely with a Merseyside Police, Guide Dogs for the Blind and other Wirral charities.
Rota

Our typical full time role would involve working 40 hours per week with the weekend rota being a 1:3 weekends (9am-1pm/9am-2pm), we do offer an early finish at 1pm and 4pm on certain days, however can be flexible to suit other needs and reduced hours would also be considered.
About us
You will be joining an experienced and supportive team of 6 Vets, 5 RVNs & 7 Support staff. There is also a well-established and strong practice management structure in place to manage the day-to-day running of the practice.
You will have all the coaching and mentoring you need. We have 2 medicine cert holders and 1 pending; we also have one surgical cert holder currently in practice.
Our main premises in Oxton in well-established and has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 100 years with many clients having been here more than 40 years. We have 4 consult rooms, and one nurse consult room. We have 2 theatres and one dental suite with recently installed dental x-ray and have recently also upgraded our X-Ray to digital x-ray with Vet CT. We have our own in-house lab including Idexx Lasercyte catalyst, multiparameter anaesthetic monitors plus an extensive range of soft tissue and orthopaedic equipment. We also have 2 other smaller sites that are consulting only however are fully equipped for routines appointments.

Come work in a truly wonderful part of the country The Wirral Peninsula or the Paradise Peninsula is bounded by the River Mersey, River Dee, and the Irish Sea, and has beautiful beaches, plenty of 'green spaces', and some fabulous places to live potentially with the sea right on your doorstep. Kitesurfing, walking, sailing, kayaking etc are popular in the Wirral for those who like the outdoors, and with Wales only 25 minutes' drive away there are endless opportunities for those who have any outdoor interests. Liverpool is only 10 minutes train or drive for some culture, shopping, or just a 'night out'.
