Our purpose is simple but powerful: to create a better world at work. Powered by our unique insight platform, One Data World, we use data-driven intelligence to make informed decisions that adapt to the ever-evolving requirements of our customers. This enables us to deliver smarter, more efficient workplaces-optimising asset performance, reducing environmental impact, and ensuring full compliance, safety, and assurance at every step.

Our culture of care and continuous improvement is reflected in the outstanding service we deliver for our customers. Because when we look after our people, they look after everything else.

EMCOR UK is accelerating its growth in the data centre sector, and we're looking for a dynamic, results-driven Bid Manager with estimating experience to help shape our future. Reporting directly to the Director of Data Centres, you will manage the bid lifecycle from pre-qualification through to tender submission - ensuring commercially robust, innovative, and client-focused solutions are provided.

In this key role, your expertise will provide essential technical insight, enabling you to liaise confidently with clients, designers, and operational teams to develop value-for-money and compelling proposals for mission-critical infrastructure solutions. You will help shape the future of EMCOR UK's integrated offering by delivering proposals that reflect sector-leading standards in safety, quality, and standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Bid Management - Lead and coordinate the full bid process from initial opportunity assessment through to submission, ensuring all client requirements are met and internal governance is followed.
  2. Estimating - Prepare and review cost estimates, budgets, and tender price submissions for data centre projects, leveraging market knowledge, supplier input, and historical data to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
  3. Collaboration - Work closely with pre-construction, design, operations, commercial, and procurement teams to produce cohesive, fully integrated bid proposals.
  4. Client Engagement - Build strong relationships with prospective and existing clients, understanding their needs and positioning EMCOR UK's solutions as the best fit for their project and operational requirements.
  5. Solution Development - Support the evolution of our design-build-manage-maintain proposition for the data centre sector, shaping technical solutions that meet both client expectations and EMCOR UK's service capabilities.
  6. Documentation & Presentation - Create clear, concise, and persuasive bid documentation and presentations that communicate technical details and value propositions.
  7. Market Intelligence - Stay abreast of market trends, client drivers, and competitor strategies in the data centre and mission-critical environments to inform bid strategy and pricing.
  8. Risk Management - Identify and assess commercial and technical risks in bids, proposing mitigation measures and ensuring alignment with corporate risk policies.
  9. Reporting - Provide regular updates on bid pipeline, win/loss analysis, and key market insights to the Director of Data Centres.
Minimum Requirements
  • Significant demonstrable experience of leading bid activity within critical infrastructure environments, including M&E, Civils, Fit Out, Asset Lifecycle replacement, and Energy, ideally across telecoms and data centre sectors, within a value range of £0.5m - £15m.
  • Track record of achievement in growing businesses within complex, demanding tenders.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids to tight deadlines with precision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work across disciplines and build relationships at all levels.
  • Deep understanding of commercial terms, risk management, and pricing strategies in a built environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly.
  • Attention to detail in cost models, tender documentation, and bid submissions.
  • Passion for understanding and delivering client needs with value-driven, innovative solutions.
  • Ability to contribute to continuous improvement of bid processes and service models.
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of the full service lifecycle-design, build, manage, and maintain-especially within data centre and telecom environments.
  • Minimum of HNC qualification, ideally degree level (or equivalent experience), with 5+ years of sector-specific experience and a proven performance record.
  • Familiarity with current estimating methods, commercial governance, and project management tools.
  • Skilled in developing trusted client relationships with a customer-first approach.
  • Organised, proactive, solutions-focused, and able to drive results.
