Behaviour Mentor

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning? Do you have the patience, resilience and empathy to make a real difference in a student's life?

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to work in primary and secondary schools across the Wirral, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD and behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with behavioural and emotional needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships to improve engagement and attendance.
• Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques.
• Support pupils to develop emotional regulation and positive coping skills.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and external agencies.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to behaviour support plans.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, care, coaching or similar settings.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice or SEMH needs is desirable.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
