This position would suit someone who is seeking a flexible working arrangement who has availability across a variety of days and times. This post is offered on a bank basis, meaning you will be covering ad hoc hours, as and when required, depending on business need.

Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity to join our talented catering team in the role of Bank Senior Catering Assistant. We are seeking a talented, compassionate individual to join our kitchen team.

You will be preparing and serving patient suppers, supporting our Chef's in the preparation of patient breakfasts,lunches, staff meals.You will also be setting up the kitchen in readiness for the next morning and catering for small events.

Previous experience in a kitchen environment is desirable however full training will be available for the successful candidate.

Job responsibilities

Working as part of the catering team the role of Senior Catering Assistant is to support the Chefin the preparation of varied, appetising and attractive food and beverages to patients, relatives,staff and visitors to the hospice.Senior Catering Assistants will observe and maintain high standards of personal hygiene inaddition to safety and hygiene procedures for preparation and storage of food and use ofkitchen equipment.The Senior Catering Assistant will also ensure efficient and economical use of hospiceresources and supplies.At all times the needs of our patients and relatives are paramount, with confidentiality,sensitivity and flexibility essential.

Person Specification Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, good basic English and Maths
• Food Hygiene and Allergens Level 2 qualification or equivalent
• Further catering qualifications, NVQs or equivalent

Experience

• Good organisational skills
• Previous experience of working within a catering environment
• Knowledge and experience of working to H&SAW, COS standards
• Previous experience of working with volunteers
