Bank Pathology Drivers, Band 2

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking Bank Pathology Drivers, Band 2 to join the General Services Team to cover a variety of routes within the County and further afield. The closing date is 11 January 2026.
You will be expected to take part in the 24/7 service provided by the team. These duties may involve weekend, bank holiday or overnight shifts (paid at an enhanced rate).
The Trust uses leased vehicles, and it is a requirement of the lease that the successful applicants must be over 21 years of age, with a clean driver's licence and at least one year's driving experience.
The candidates should also be in good health (some lifting is required), and have good communication skills. A medical assessment will be required. Full training will be given.
This post is particularly suited to someone who already works part time or has taken early retirement but would like an interesting and rewarding job.
Main duties of the jobDuties include collecting specimens from the surgeries and delivering sample bottles and results. The Shuttle service also includes transportation of medical notes, pharmacy and sterile medical equipment. All duties are vital to supporting the care of patients not only in the Acute Hospitals, but in the wider health community.

About usThe team comprises approximately 41 mainly part-time contracted Drivers, and 22 "Bank" Drivers. All Drivers are trained on multiple routes to allow for swaps to cover gaps, and most are also trained in basic Laboratory and Transfusion tasks to allow them to work out-of-hours (including overnight).
Most of our team are retired ex-professionals who are keen to continue working, but want a good work-life balance.
