We are looking for an enthusiastic, self motivated and flexible Healthcare Science Assistant to support the delivery of a high standard of service for our patients within our Respiratory and sleep diagnostic unit in Princess of Wales Hospital.
You will be supporting the patients journey from booking, helping during the diagnostic process and outcoming on completion. You will need to have previous experience of dealing with the public in a healthcare environment, a working knowledge of WPAS, excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritise own workload and interpersonal skills to work as part of a team within a busy environment.
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job- Provide the administrative function and support to the clinical physiology team.
- Contacting and booking patients. Insuring all the available slots are filled to maximise efficiency.
- Supporting the patient's attendance in the department including meet and greeting patients, explaining the test procedures, providing help and support to the patients and physiology team as necessary during the procedure.
- Ensuring the patients journey runs smoothly and efficiently through the unit.
- Outcoming and explaining next steps.

Person Specification Qualifications and/or Knowledge- Good Numeracy and literacy skills Basic Computer skills(MS office, excel skills) NVQ II or equivalence Understanding of patient care in an hospital Out patient setting Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality and data protection in a hospital setting Evidence of personal development through experience and training.
- Experience in dealing with the general public
- Good Communication and interpersonal skills Organisational skills Ability to prioritise workload Ability to recognise own abilities and work within sphere of competence.
- Must be self motivated a team player but with the ability to work on his/her own initiative Flexible approach to work and reliable.
