Job overview An opportunity has arisen with in the Vascular Assessment Unit (VAU) at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a motivated and dedicated Clinical Vascular Scientist to join our team of eight qualified vascular scientists, two trainee vascular scientis ts and our administration team. This bank post involves cross-site working covering our hub site based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, a s well as Wo rthing, Southlands, Princess Royal and Eastbourne hospital s .
Main duties of the job The ro le assumes a high degree of autonomy and independence to undertake and report on a full range of specialist vascular science diagnostic investigations. The role also provide s clinical scientific support to healthcare professionals , such as vascular surgery and other specialties , and carries out other duties i n line with the full job description .

Detailed job description and main responsibilities Clinical and Scientific:
Recogni se when the test is sub-optimal, using alternative methods to obtain accurate results , and modify examinations depending on findings using skills and knowledge obtained through experience
Seek a second opinion from colleagues when necessary and provide a second opinion for other members of the team
Report urgently or routinely to the referring clinician depending on the findings
Analyse requests from clinician s, select appropriate tests and prioritise them according to clinic al need and resources available

Detailed job description and main responsibilities Clinical and Scientific:
- Independently (unsupervised) perform, interpret and accurately report specialist diagnostic vascular ultrasound investigations (this may require concentration during busy environments with many distractions) to enable appropriate and t imely clinical decision-making

- Current holder of The College and Society for Clinical Vascular Science (CSVS) Accredited Vascular Scientist status
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Excellent computer and administration skills
- Willingness to teach and train others
- Able to demonstrate a commitment to and understanding of the importance of treating all individuals with dignity and respect, appropriate to their individual needs.
- Ability to establish good working relationships with patients, carers, administrators, healthcare professionals, managers etc.
- Able to reflect and appraise own performance
- HCPC registration as Clinical Scientist (Vascular)
- Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
