Band 7 Senior Support pharmacist-Cancer and Aseptic Services

We're looking for a passionate and forward-thinking pharmacist to join our dynamic Cancer and Aseptic Services team at UHB. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred pharmaceutical care in oncology, haematology and aseptic services.
The Pharmacy Cancer Services Division at UHB provides world class cancer care to patients from across the country, with a range of specialised services in oncology and haematology including BMT and CAR-T, delivered by a team of pharmacy specialists.
At the heart of Cancer Services, ensuring safe, effective, and timely delivery of SACT, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimise treatment pathways, contribute to clinical governance, and support service development. Pharmacists are integrated into all aspects of the service including ward and day unit pharmacy and several pharmacists led clinics as well as the aseptic preparation of licensed and unlicensed products including innovative products that are part of clinical trials.
Experience of working in this field is desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided. To join you'll need at least 12 months post registration experience working in hospital pharmacy. Completion first year of clinical diploma or NHSE/RPS Newly qualified pharmacist pathway or equivalent, as evidenced by dated communication from HEI or signed-off NQPP documentation.
There is an expectation that there will be some cross site working across all UHB sites.
Main duties of the jobTo partake in specialised clinical pharmacy duties on the Haematology and Oncology wards and day units, ensuring core clinical pharmacy activities including clinical verification of SACT prescriptions are undertaken.
To support the Aseptic Unit in maintaining an excellent patient centred service compliant with Good Manufacturing Practice
To ensure that through the provision of pharmacy services and advice to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals, there is safe and effective use of medicines
To assist in providing a specialist pharmaceutical service to specialist tertiary services including the provision of education and training, procedures, protocols, and medicines usage information
To provide leadership and directorate/service support roles
To support more junior pharmacists in the department

Person Specification Qualifications- Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
- Completion of first year of clinical diploma or NHSE/RPS Newly Qualified Pharmacist Pathway or equivalent, as evidenced by dated communication from HEI or signed-off NQPP documentation
- Current professional registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Evidence of continued Professional Development in Pharmacy related matters
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
- Member of UKCPA
- In-house training and accreditation for formulation of PN and final check of aseptics
- Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy
- To be willing to work towards a non-medical prescribing qualification
- Experience working within an NHS/ Healthcare environment with clinicians and other health care professionals at all levels of the organisation.
- Significant post-registration work experience as a pharmacist in hospital pharmacy. Minimum 12 months post-registration experience working in hospital pharmacy at point of application.
- Previous participation in multi- disciplinary team.
- Experience of managing/ supervising staff/ students and the delivery of training on a range of subjects.
- Evidence of risk management and service improvements.
- Demonstrates commitment for providing high quality pharmaceutical care.
- Possesses relevant clinical knowledge in hospital pharmacy.
- Knowledge of national initiatives and guidelines, e.g. NICE, NSF.
- Possesses knowledge of available resources to answer Medicines Information queries.
- Demonstrates good knowledge of hospital clinical pharmacy and current issues.
- Previous experience in cancer services
- Post-registration work experience as a pharmacist in hospital pharmacy, or the ability to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge
- Well motivated and reliable
- Demonstrates commitment for providing high quality pharmaceutical care
- Flexible to the demands of the post, the needs of the pharmacy service and other staff
- Participation in 7 day week rota including bank holidays and weekends
- Ability to travel across all service sites as required by the job role
