Band 7 Paediatric Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist Fixed Term for 1 year
Full time (1.0wte) Fixed Term for 1 year
We have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and innovative Paediatric Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Team on a 1 year fixed term full time (37.5 hours/week) position. Our paediatric MSK service receives referrals for new born babies up to 17-year-olds with Musculoskeletal physiotherapy concerns. Our service comprises of a team of paediatric physiotherapists, including B8a Advanced Practice Physiotherapists, and Band 7, 6 and 5 physiotherapists and Band 4 and Band 3 therapy assistants. We encourage service development and collaborative working with the Paediatric service at the Whittington Hospital and community resources to provide our service users with excellent evidence-based care. In recent years our service has developed and expanded to now include an Advanced Practice Paediatric Physiotherapy service, gym-based community exercise groups at Lift gym, a back care group for adolescence, and a MDT rheumatology clinic.
Our supportive team will offer you excellent training opportunities with a strong emphasis on individual performance appraisal and supervision, both from within the team and from the wider paediatric physiotherapy service.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be responsible for providing a physiotherapy service for MSK referrals to the service. This will include referrals from GPs and health visitors, local orthopaedic departments, paediatric and neonatal Consultants, and post-natal wards, for babies, children and adolescents requiring physiotherapy.
The post holder will also be responsible for the day-to-day running of the service with support from the clinical leads. There will be the opportunity to work with Bright Start's universal physiotherapy drop-in clinics across Islington Borough to provide universal advice for parents of under 5-year-olds with gait concerns, lead clinics with the Health Living service, and to work collaboratively with Paediatric MSK Advanced Practice Physiotherapists, the wider children's therapies team, and Paediatricians at the Whittington Hospital.
The post will be based at Northern Health Centre on the Holloway Road, travel may be required to Whittington Hospital site as well as local youth gyms and children's centres.

Clinical Duties will include:
- To take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the paediatric musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, and non-complex school aged referrals and be accountable for a designated area of work. Plan and organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to patient management and use of time.
- To undertake a significant clinical caseload working at a specialist level with other agencies and health professionals.
- To be responsible for the provision of highly specialised assessment, treatment and management of children and adolescents who present with a wide variety of conditions. These include chronic, complex, disabling and life-limiting conditions.
- To determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
- To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management and those of more junior staff providing a comprehensive and appropriate physiotherapy service to children, families and carers.
- To provide leadership to the paediatric musculoskeletal and orthopaedic physiotherapy service.
- To work with other senior clinicians, advanced practice physiotherapists, and the clinical lead within paediatric physiotherapy to provide integrated care across the specialist areas and between acute and community services.
- To be responsible for service development within the team, to implement policy and policy changes within the clinical area with support from the Clinical Lead, physiotherapy and MDT colleagues.
- To represent a positive and inspirational role model for all the team members.
- HCPC Registration
- Physiotherapy degree
- Involvement in a relevant specialist interest group e.g. APCP
- Existing B6/7 Experience in Paediatric / MSK Settings
- Evidence of QI/Service Improvement/ Audit
- Extensive experience in MSK / Ortho/ Paediatric settings
- Paediatric MSK Assessment skills
- Paediatric MSK Treatment skillsSupervising and completing appraisals
- Developed and provided IST programs
- Highly specialist Paediatric MSK knowledge and experience
- Meets attributes for service needs (Flexible, time management, team work, practical demands of role)

£56,276 to £63,176 a yearpro-rata per annum including HCAs
