Band 7 - Senior Clinical Research Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Research Nurse to join the Barnet and Chase Farm research team. The post holder will work in Theme 1 (Oncology) in a collaborative role in conjunction with Principal Investigators, Co Investigators and all clinical staff involved in the care and supervision of patients enrolled on trials.
Main duties of the jobThe NAC Senior Research Nurse is an expert nurse within the Trust for the conduct of clinical trials, academic research and studies within the amyloidosis research unit. The SRN works in a collaborative role in conjunction with Principal Investigators, co investigators and all staff involved in the care and supervision of patients enrolled on trials, in the safe set up and recruitment to trials and in direct collaboration with clinical and academic teams recruiting to locally approved studies. Within this there is the need for visibility, expert communication and teaching skills to engender understanding and support for the research process in Oncology. The SRN is responsible for the oversight of a portfolio of studies in Oncology, manages junior staff and leads in all communication to support recruitment, the reporting of clinical events and the collection of quality controlled data. The SRN will represent the Trust in working with external commercial, charities and funding bodies in the delivery of the trials under their management.

Person Specification Royal Free World Class Values- Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values
- Healthcare Professional qualification with current registration
- Recognised research module/ qualification or equivalent cardiology short courses and accredited updates
- Recognised teaching module/ qualification
- Completed/working towards Masters degree in cardiology or a related field
- Adequate experience of working in Clinical Research
- Experience of formal/ informal teaching of patients and staff
- Experience in delivering evidence based practice
- Experience of explaining complex concepts to patients in a clear and simplified manner
- Experience of acting as a patient advocate
- Experience working as a mentor/ clinical teaching
- Clinical experience in setting where unlicensed drugs are being given
- Line Management Experience
- Experience of phlebotomy and cannulation
- Proven effectiveness as working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrates ability to prioritise workload
- Demonstrates ability to work under own initiative
- Demonstrates ability to take charge and delegate duties
- Demonstrates evidence of professional development
- Demonstrates understanding of the importance of audit/quality
- Knowledge of ICH GCP guidelines
- Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing

- Computer literacy and experience creating databases
- Willingness to work flexible hours on occasion
