Are you passionate about delivering exceptional elective care for children and young people? We are seeking an experienced and driven Children's Nurse to lead our Safari Day Unit, ensuring outstanding care, every child, every day.

This is an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for our 10 beded elective and ambulatory care unit, delivering high-quality care to children and young people across a broad range of services.

The Safari Day Unit supports elective surgical pathways as well as specialist ambulatory activity, including allergy services, endocrine care, blood transfusions, and the management of prolonged jaundice.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an innovative and motivated leader who can inspire and support a dedicated team while driving service development and improving patient pathways.

You will play a key role in shaping the future of the unit, ensuring children and families receive safe, effective, and compassionate care.

Person Specification Education
  • Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN) with current NMC registration
  • Degree/Diploma in Children's Nursing Safeguarding Level 3
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Child safeguarding
  • Knowledge of paediatric elective day surgery and ambulatory pathways
  • Understanding of peri-operative standards and patient flow principles
  • Knowledge of clinical governance, risk management and quality improvement methodologies
Experience
  • Significant post registration paediatric clinical experience
  • Experience in day surgery, ambulatory care or acute paediatric setting
  • Experience leading or supervising staff
