Job Description

Whittington Health NHS Trust are searching for an experienced and passionate Band 7 Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join their highly skilled team.

Whittington Health NHS Trust provides a wide range of health and care services. From maternity, through children's mental and physical healthcare, health visitors, community and school nursing and therapists, urgent and emergency, cancer care, dental services, elective care, all the way to end of life care: we support patients, families and local communities in community health centres, GP clinics, dental practices across North Central London and beyond, at our hospital in Archway, and in patients' own homes.

The Role:

The post holder will perform imaging and associated procedures within the Nuclear Medicine Department including some administrative responsibilities. He/she will be part of a team committed to providing a clinical nuclear medicine service at the highest level and undertake audit, research, development, and teaching within the specialty and will play a senior role and provide leadership in the daily running of the department clinically.

The post holder will also have administrative responsibility in managing junior members of staff.

The department carries out a growing range of examinations including Nuclear Cardiology and Bone Densitometry and provides outsourced work for two other hospitals.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Act independently in the assessment of referrals for imaging examinations, taking full responsibility for the justification of examinations. Supervise more junior staff in this process if required
  • The post holder will work in accordance with IR(ME)R 2017 & IRR99
  • To comply with and contribute to the implementation of departmental and professional policies and procedures such as:

Health +Safety including risk assessment and COSHH

ALARA principles

Quality Assurance Program

Clinical Effectiveness

Clinical Audit

  • To work in accordance with the Code of Conduct of the Society/College ofRadiographers, The Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT ) and the HPC
  • To maintain a high level of expertise in the safe operation of Imaging equipment and manage faults effectively
  • To be able to exercise personal responsibility and make decisions in complex and unpredictable circumstances e.g.: Prioritising patients according to clinical need. in an imaging situation.
  • To work as part of a team within the Imaging Department and the wider Trust environment to ensure effective communication and delivery of care.
Requirements:
  • Applicants must be HNC registered or RCT equivalent, HPC registration
  • Medical Physics DCR, BSc in Radiography or equivalent
  • State Registered or MTO equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in general NM
