Job Description

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Leicestershire and Rutland Sexual Health Service and are looking for a Band 6 Senior Sexual Health Practitioner to join our team.

Based at our Loughborough Health Centre, with service locations across Rutland, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, and Coalville, this part or full-time role offers a unique opportunity to provide free, confidential sexual health services to the local community. This role will involve travel across our localities.

We would welcome an existing Band 6 Senior Sexual Health Practitioner or an existing Band 5 Sexual Health Practitioner, seeking promotion, who has recognized sexual health competencies (STIF Foundation or Intermediate), Faculty Diploma in Contraception (DFSRH), and at least 2 years of sexual health experience at Band 5/6. You will work as a member of the sexual health team as an autonomous practitioner providing sexual health services. You will collaborate with colleagues and commissioners to develop services in line with commissioning and organizational objectives.

Main duties of the job
  • Manage and triage patients for sexual health, contraception, and HIV care, escalating to the multidisciplinary team when necessary.
  • Provide STI/HIV screening, treatment, and partner management following clinical protocols and Patient Group Directions (PGDs).
  • Insert and remove contraceptive implants and intrauterine devices after appropriate training.
  • Promote sexual health through education, brief interventions, and positive health messaging.
  • Work autonomously to manage a caseload, ensuring patient choice and effective care pathways.
  • Offer specialized advice, develop care plans, and support colleagues with clinical leadership.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold clinical governance and organizational policies.
  • Participate in audits, research, and service development initiatives.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
