Job Description
Band 6 Junior Sister / Charge Nurse - Paediatrics

The post holder will work under the direction of the ward sister/ charge nursewith responsibility for:The assessment of care needs for all patients, ensuring appropriately plannedcare is both implemented and evaluated.He/ she is expected to work with minimal supervision and will be designated totake charge of the unit on a regular basis.He/ she will act as an effective clinical leader and will ensure the clinical andprofessional development of all staff for whom they are responsible.

Main duties of the job

To assess individual care needs, develop, implement and evaluate care given to patients in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.To provide efficient, effective and evidence based nursing care to children andyoung people within the hospital setting.To perform nursing procedures to a high standard in accordance with the RoyalFree Clinical Practice Guidelines and policies and to ensure that these policiesand procedures are understood and adhered to by all staff within ownmanagement responsibility.

  • Experience of working with the MDT.
  • Experience of teaching
  • Experience of managing a team.
  • Experience or risk management / clinical governance / policy and procedure development
  • Evidence of ability to teach in informal and formal settings
