Band 6 - Senior Information Governance Officer

Isle of Wight NHS Trust are searching for an experienced Senior Information Governance Officer to join their highly skilled and passionate team.
Based at the heart of the Island, with 266 beds and handling around 27,000 admissions each year, St Mary's Hospital in Newport is our main base for delivering acute services for the Island's population. Services include the Emergency Department (A&E), the Urgent Treatment Centre by referral only, Emergency medicine and surgery, planned surgery, intensive care, comprehensive maternity, Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) and paediatric services with 986 births last year.
Job PurposeTo ensure both Trusts meet their legal and regulatory obligations associated with information governance and data protection management and to ensure that there are robust arrangements in place to continue to be well led organisations. This includes assurance and escalation as necessary.
Job Summary- To lead and support on reviewing the organisation's Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
- To support with the requirements of the annual Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) submissions
- Support and help manage collection and collation of information for Data Flow Mapping and Asset Registers, including where appropriate offering training and support to Trust staff
- To manage and review Information Governance incidents
- To assist and support the IG Officers on complex Subject Access Requests
- To assist and support the IG Officers on applying exemptions under the Freedom of Information Act
- To be an integral part of the Information Governance Team ensuring high standards of Information Governance are implemented and maintained across the Group
- Support with policy development and transparency information across the Group
- Support IG Officers with weekly, monthly and quarterly statistics for the Group Data Protection dashboard
Degree level (or equivalent)
Qualification in Data Protection, Information Governance or Freedom of Information Act.
Evidence of significant experience working with Data Protection compliance.
Evidence of significant experience in system administration.
Advanced skills for keyboard use for producing reports, spreadsheets and correspondence.
Excellent verbal, telephone and written communication skills.
Ability to use own initiative and deal with competing priorities.
Works autonomously but can seek advice when necessary/manages a discrete area of work.
