Band 5 Staff Nurse - Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust invites applications for a Band 5 Staff Nurse within its Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) team.

Responsibilities

• Provide and maintain safe, quality nursing care to emergency pathway patients and their relatives.
• Work within the departmental philosophy and uphold agreed professional standards.
• Act as an effective member of a multi disciplinary team in assessing, delivering and evaluating care to a diverse range of emergency patients.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with all patients and relatives.
• Ensure all documentation is accurate and in accordance with Trust and NMC policies.
• Report untoward incidents confidently.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage time and prioritise care.
• Develop skills necessary for the care of a range of emergency pathways.
• Work in accordance with the Princess Alexandra Hospitals Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and Core Standards.
• Act as a facilitator, mentor and preceptor to student nurses and other staff, and participate in clinical supervision programmes as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Current NMC registration.
• Evidence of recent Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
• Nursing degree or working towards a nursing degree.
• Qualifications in mentorship.

Experience

• Demonstrated knowledge of escalation and recognition of deteriorating patients.
• Flexibility to work in other areas of Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust when/if required to ensure safe patient care.
• Experience working in a general surgical setting.
• Experience working in an acute care setting.
• Experience working in a urological care setting.
