Are you a Band 5 Practice Nurse looking for an exciting role, working alongside the military, with benefits and opportunities?
We are looking to appoint professional and patient-focused individuals with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality service to join our friendly and welcoming team at the Pirbright Medical Centre, Alexander Barracks. We have 6 posts available: 5 Full time (37.5 hours per week) and 1 Part time (12.5 hours per week). Requests to work flexibly or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs.

The successful post holders will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team (MDT) delivering primary healthcare nursing, including elements of occupational health. The practice is networked with Sandhurst, and the post holder may occasionally work from this site.
Post holders will work with the Senior Practice Nurse or Senior Medical Officer within the medical facility (MF). Depending on qualifications and experience, you will be responsible for the delivery of appropriate assessment, treatment, screening and advice within your professional competence and in accordance with Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) clinical guidelines and protocols.

Job responsibilitiesDuties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing high-quality person-centred care with emphasis on safety, privacy and dignity, using advanced clinical knowledge that is evidence-based.
- Monitoring and improving standards through supervision, evidence-based practice, clinical audit, research and education.
- Serving as a role model, delivering high-quality practice and promoting clinical effectiveness in care.
- Undertaking training and clinical supervision responsibilities for Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) and Military Medics.
- Working within the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and adhering to all NMC standards and MOD/DPHC policies and guidelines.
- Supporting care of patients with chronic illnesses (e.g., Asthma, Diabetes, CHD, Hypertension) and maintaining the Chronic Disease Register.

The sift will be completed within 10 working days of the vacancy closing date. Interviews will be scheduled; travel expenses are not reimbursed. Requests to work flexibly/part time will be considered, and salary is pro-rata for part-time hours. All new MOD Civil Service hires are subject to a 6-month probation period unless advised otherwise. Successful candidates must meet security requirements before appointment (security check).
Access to the NHS pension scheme is available to the successful candidate. If you are found successful, you may need to provide evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B. Vaccination evidence alone is not immunity proof; serology levels are required. Refusal or failure to provide sufficient evidence may result in withdrawal of offer.
There is no deployment requirement, but you will contribute to continuity of care when based at home.

Person Specification- Provide your membership registration number and be registered with the relevant professional body prior to submitting your application.

- Registered Nurse on Sub-Part 1 (RN1/RN(A of the UK NMC register.
- Degree, diploma or appropriate training recognized by a professional body such as UK NMC or HCPC.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), and Safeguarding Level 3 (Children and Adults).
- Willingness to undertake Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) training to fulfil competency (e.g., audiometry, ear care, minor illness/injury, physical assessment and history taking).
- Disclosure of any gross misconduct in the past five years; respond Yes/No as appropriate.
