Band 2 Switchboard Operator

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Switchboard Operator to support the Trust's Estates and Facilities Directorate within Soft FM services. The role is based at the Bradgate Unit within Glenfield Hospital and involves working 12 hours per week in a 3 week rota with shifts from 7 pm to 7:30 am the following day (Friday/Saturday & Saturday/Sunday).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive, high quality switchboard service to patients, staff and members of the public.
• Maintain a polite and courteous telephone manner when receiving and redirecting calls.
• Process telephone calls efficiently via the switchboard consoles and other extensions within the switchboard area.
• Offer a welcoming service for routine enquiries and assistance to staff users and the general public.
• Operate the computer based switchboard and manage alarms and monitors within an agreed scope of responsibility.
• Make decisions and handle emergency calls calmly and efficiently in a fast moving environment (e.g. cardiac arrest, trauma, fire, bomb threats, gas alarms, lift entrapments).
• Remain enthusiastic and adaptable within the Switchboard's varied roles.
