12-Month Contract

Onsite | Nenagh, Ireland | 5 Days per Week

We're seeking an experienced Backend Java Developer to join our client's engineering team in Nenagh.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-transaction, enterprise-scale payment platform used globally.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain secure, high-performance Back End systems for payment processing.
• Design and optimise scalable microservices and APIs using Java, Spring, and Hibernate.
• Ensure systems meet strict non-functional requirements-scalability, availability, and performance.
• Collaborate across teams to integrate Back End services with payment gateway components.
• Support the adoption of Nexo and other payment standards to future-proof the platform.
• Troubleshoot complex Back End issues, perform code reviews, and uphold engineering best practices.

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years' experience as a Java Backend Developer in a high-transaction or enterprise environment.
• Strong skills in Java, Spring, Hibernate, and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with payment systems, APIs, and protocols.
• A problem-solving mindset with excellent teamwork and communication skills.
