About The Role

Join the RAC as an Automotive Technical Solutions Specialist

Are you a seasoned vehicle technician ready to step away from the tools and into a role where your expertise drives real-time solutions? We're hiring an Automotive Technical Solutions Specialist to support our frontline teams and customers from our iconic Bescot office.

Whether you're a master technician, roadside patrol, or automotive diagnostics specialist, this is your chance to apply your hands-on expertise in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.

  • No hands-on repair work - use your diagnostic skills to guide others.
  • Work-life balance - 4-on, 4-off shift pattern between 7am-9pm.
  • Career longevity - ideal for experienced technicians seeking a less physically demanding role.
  • Impactful work - help RAC patrols achieve first-time fixes and reduce unnecessary callouts.
What you'll do

As a Technical Solutions Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in providing real-time motor vehicle technical support and solutions to RAC customers and frontline colleagues. You'll be the go-to expert for breakdowns, offering mechanical insight and guidance to ensure effective vehicle repair and resolution at all parts of the breakdown journey.

  • Deliver expert mechanical and technical solutions via multiple communication channels
  • Use your diagnostic toolkit to influence roadside deployment decisions and optimise job outcomes
  • Provide live, dynamic diagnostic assistance to roadside teams-helping mechanics and patrols achieve first-time fixes
  • Support contact centre teams with remote mechanical resolutions to reduce unnecessary attendances
  • Maintain and enhance the RAC's technical knowledge base with your mechanic's perspective
  • Occasionally support at roadside or other office locations when needed
What you'll need
  • NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Engineering
  • Experience with EV systems, OEM diagnostic tools, and complex fault finding
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive mindset and ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, mechanic-led environment
As an Automotive Technical Solutions Specialist at RAC, you'll get benefits that go the extra mile
  • £43,000.00 + an annual performance bonus tied to company EBITDA performance, giving you the chance to share in the success you help create
  • Share in our success - Join our colleague share scheme for free to benefit from the future growth of the business
  • Free RAC Ultimate breakdown cover - From your very first day.
  • Car salary sacrifice scheme - Includes electric vehicle options (after 12 months) to help you save on tax.
  • Generous holidays - 256 hours holiday each year.
  • Pension & life cover - Up to 6.5% matched pension contributions and life cover up to 4x your salary (10x with flex benefits).
  • Wellbeing support - 24/7 confidential support helpline for you and your family.
