Autobody Painting and Refinishing Tutor

Autobody Painting Tutor to share expertise and guide learners as they develop the essential skills needed for a successful career in autobody refinishing. Autobody Tutors teach the core refinishing and collision repair techniques to learners entering the industry, using industry standard tools and well equipped, purpose built training facilities. This learning is delivered through high quality, hands on educational practice that sets students up for real world success.
Responsibilities- Teach and support learners in autobody painting and refinishing within purpose built facilities
- Use your industry expertise to develop learner skills and improve outcomes
- Apply flexible, learner focused teaching approaches and innovative delivery methods
- Design and deliver engaging learning, assess learner progress, embed kaupapa Māori, and help prepare graduates for successful careers in the collision repair and refinishing industry
- Contribute to programme development, industry connections, and the wider academic community at Ara
- Work with learners at all stages of their journey to shape the next generation of refinishing professionals
- A trade qualification in Painting and/or Collision Repair (e.g., Advanced Trade Certificate or National Certificate)
- Recent hands-on experience in the industry
- Confidence with autobody refinishing
- Willingness to help shape and develop course content
- Comfortable talking with employers and future learners
- Good time management skills - able to stay organised, keep things moving, and meet deadlines
- Flexibility to work the occasional evening or weekend when needed
- A genuine passion for autobody work and a desire to support the next generation coming into the trade
- Previous teaching or mentoring experience is great to have, but not essential
