Are you a seasoned audit professional ready to lead with impact? United Utilities is seeking a dynamic Audit Manager to deliver high-value assurance and advisory work across our organisation. What You'll Be Doing

As a trusted advisor to the Audit Committee, Board, and Executive team, you'll:

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of audits from planning through execution, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery
  • Apply your technical expertise to shape audit strategy, test design, and control evaluation
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders across the business, acting as a key escalation point and strategic partner
  • Analyse complex processes and risks to ensure audit activity is targeted and insightful
  • Coach and develop audit professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and recommending practical solutions
  • Communicate findings with clarity and influence, tailoring your message to diverse audiences
  • Contribute to departmental leadership, recruitment, and operational excellence

What We're Looking For

We're after someone who sees the wood for the trees-balancing detail with strategic vision. You'll bring:

  • A recognised audit or accountancy qualification (IIA, CISA, ICAEW, ICAS, ICAI, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Deep knowledge of internal audit methodology and financial controls
  • Exceptional time and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and regulatory understanding (regulated industry experience is a plus)
  • Outstanding communication and report writing skills
  • Proven experience leading audits and managing professional teams
  • A sharp eye for risk and control design, with the ability to advise on new processes and systems
  • Proficiency in key IT tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • IT Audit experience would be advantagous
