Job Description

A well established professional services firm is looking to strengthen its Audit Department with an ambitious Audit Manager who wants real ownership of a client portfolio rather than another rung on a ladder. The team works across a range of sectors with a particular concentration in technology, media and telecommunications, and this role sits at the centre of that book, working directly with senior finance executives on some genuinely varied engagements.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage and take ownership of a diverse portfolio of audit clients across different sizes and sectors.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, building strong relationships with senior financial personnel.
  • Coordinate international reporting processes between group level and component auditors.
  • Lead audit teams through every phase of an engagement, keeping quality and deadlines firmly in view.
  • Provide technical auditing and accounting support to both your team and your clients.
  • Report directly into senior leadership on the progress of your engagements.
  • Monitor the financial performance of your audit teams, including fee negotiation, billing and work in progress.
  • Play an active part in coaching, mentoring and appraising your team.
  • Help shape pitches and proposals when new business opportunities arise.
About you
  • Professional accounting qualification, ACA or ACCA, with at least three years post qualification experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ISAs, FRS 100 to FRS 102 and IFRS.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team with real accountability for results.
  • Commercially minded, client focused and a clear communicator at every level.
  • Experience managing audit teams in a busy, client facing environment.
  • Exposure to international audits or multi entity reporting is an advantage.
  • Comfortable leading people through change rather than simply managing around it.

This is a firm that genuinely invests in progression, so the learning and development on offer goes well beyond box ticking. The portfolio gives you exposure to technology, media and telecommunications alongside other sectors, which keeps the work varied rather than repetitive. You will be trusted with real client relationships and real commercial responsibility from early on, not kept at arm's length from either. And the culture is collaborative rather than hierarchical, so your input on pitches, team development and client strategy will actually be heard.
