Description

We are pleased to share a full time, fixed term opportunity that has arisen within the Corporate Services Directorate for an Audit and Governance Manager.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to be part of the Governance and Programme Management team as the Audit and Governance Manager. Reporting into the Head of Governance and Programme Management, this role will manage the internal audit programme, deliver governance and secretariat services for key LLDC Committees and subsidiary bodies, support risk management and manage the Corporation's work in relation to the Modern Slavery Act.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Manage the internal audit programme including regular meetings with the internal auditors, working with project teams to support audit work, facilitating preparation of management responses and tracking these.
  • Manage the governance and secretariat services for the Audit Committee and other committees as required, and manage the governance and secretariat services for the Legacy Corporation's subsidiary bodies. This includes maintaining the forward plan of agenda items, coordinating the submission of papers from different teams and drafting papers as required, liaising with the external shared secretariat service on prompt publication of papers in line with statutory deadlines.
  • Support the risk management and reporting processes
  • Manage the Corporation's compliance with Modern Slavery Act.
Is it for you?

As this role will work across the entire organisation, it is essential that you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work as part of a team and build relationships both internally and externally.

You will have skills relating to supporting boards, committees or governance bodies in a secretariat role including commissioning, drafting and proofing papers.

You will also have a solid understanding of the principles of project or programme management and risk management.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable understanding or experience of working with internal auditors and the principles of an internal audit regime.

  • The salary for this post is £48,504 per annum. LLDC operates a performance-based incremental pay scale.
  • The probationary period for this post is for 3 months. Upon successful completion of the probation period, confirmation of employment will be given, and the notice period will be one month.
  • This is proposed as a full time post working 37 hours per week for a period of 12 months.
  • All employees are eligible to join our pension scheme, which is provided by the Local Government Pension Scheme.
