As an Audiologist working for the Audiology Adult Diagnostic Department, you will be providing high-quality audiological care to adult patients with a wide range of complexities. You will be responsible for supporting your manager and ensuring that our service user' needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care. As a centre of excellence, you will offer a person-centred approach to their independence and well-being.

Main duties of the job

• Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out Adult Diagnostic testing procedures.
• Responsible for adult caseload of patients primarily requiring hearing test procedures.
• Support colleague in AVM, ENT with audiological testing.
• Treat all patients with dignity and care in a safe supportive manner whilst adhering to clinical governance requirements.

Person Specification Knowledge and Qualifications

• oBSc in Clinical Audiology or equivalent level of knowledge State registration as Clinical Physiologist in Audiology.
• or oProfessional Body examinations BAA (British Association of Audiologists) Part I&II
• oMembership of BAA, BSA (British Society of Audiologists) MHAS (Modernised Hearing Aid Services) training.

Experience

• oExperience as a Trainee Audiologist or 1-year clinical placement as part of BSc.
• oPerformance of all basic audiological techniques. Further experience and training gained through attending courses and in house clinical training.

Skills and Abilities

• oExcellent interpersonal skills. Skills for assessing and interpreting test results. Ability to maintain concentration to obtain accurate results throughout busy clinics Applying information to the use and application of appropriate hearing aids for adult users. Judgmental skills needed in the performing and choice of test or tests required for ENT clinic.
• oAbility to work well in a multi-disciplinary team. Computer skills. Ability to deal regularly and appropriately with angry and frustrated individuals. Ability to work with minimum supervision and use initiative.
• oPlanning and organising sufficient availability of stock. Monitoring faults through to a satisfactory conclusion

Communication

• oExcellent communication tactics both written and oral. Fluent English speaker. Communicates information to patients and relatives using reasoning, persuasion, reassurance, tact and sensitivity; overcoming barriers to understanding when patient's first language is not English.
• oDealing with patients having hearing impairment; patients under stress and their relatives.
• oDealing with patients who have on-going medical conditions. Ability to pass on technical and/or condition related information with reassurance for better understanding gaining consent where necessary. Daily communication and interaction with colleagues.

Personal and People Development

• oExperience in leading staff using motivation and enthusiasm.
• oExperience of working within services in line with performance targets
• oParticipating in service improvements and clinical audit of services/ pathway
• oExperience in participating in appraisal process and setting personal objectives.
