Job Description

Village Church is seeking an Associate Pastor of Care & Discipleship who will help make a large church feel small - a place where people are known, cared for, and growing as disciples of Jesus.
This role provides pastoral leadership, develops our Community Group ministry, and helps ensure every person in our congregation is connected, supported, and growing in faith.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pastoral care to individuals and families through visitations, counselling, weddings, funerals, and crisis response.
  • Develop and oversee Community Groups - recruiting, training, and supporting leaders to create vibrant environments for connection, growth, and mission.
  • Equip and empower volunteers and lay leaders to extend care and discipleship throughout the church.
  • Lead and grow the Prayer Ministry and help strengthen the prayer culture across the site.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and other staff to shape the site's discipleship pathway, connecting people from first visit to mature faith.
  • Build and implement scalable systems for care and follow-up to ensure that no one falls through the cracks.
  • Use ministry data (attendance, group health, engagement) to guide decision-making and measure impact.
  • Contribute to a healthy, joyful, and gospel-centered team culture.
Who You Are
  • A pastoral leader who loves people deeply and leads with compassion and wisdom.
  • A relational and team-oriented leader who can recruit, develop, and empower volunteers.
  • A strategic thinker who can balance care, systems, and growth.
  • Flexible, collaborative, and committed to excellence in all areas of ministry.
  • Spiritually mature, prayerful, and growing in your walk with Jesus.
Qualifications
  • Alignment with the mission, focus, and strategy of Village Church.
  • Meets the biblical qualifications for church leadership (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1).
  • 10+ years of pastoral ministry experience (preferably in a mid- to large-sized church).
  • Bachelor's degree in Theology, Ministry, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Proven experience leading teams and developing leaders.
  • Theological depth and the ability to teach and communicate biblical truth clearly.
What Success Looks Like
  • People are cared for and connected into community.
  • Community Group leaders are equipped, healthy, and multiplying.
  • The culture of prayer and discipleship continues to grow.
  • The congregation is becoming more like Jesus - together.
