About the role

We are pleased to be recruiting an experienced and pro active leader to join our Senior team. The Associate Director of Women and Children's Services will be a registered and practising midwife who will support the Nurse/AHP Director and Chief Operating Officer to deliver strategic direction for women and children's services across the Western Isles.

Key responsibilities

• Operational care and driving innovation to ensure safe, compassionate services for women and children in the Western Isles.
• Work across a variety of clinical departments and systems, giving direction and support, developing strong networks, teams and improvements for staff and patient experience and outcomes.
• Problem anticipation and solution flows, an appetite for innovation and development, team building, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications and requirements

• Registered and practising midwife.
• Proven experience in maternity services.
• Continuous improvement skills.
• Strong leadership.
• Ability to work across clinical departments and systems with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional information

The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme). This post is eligible for relocation expenses. All NHS Western Isles vacancies appear on the NHS Scotland website: apply.jobs.scot.nhs.uk .
As from 1/4/2026, the Agenda for Change full time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be adjusted on a pro rata basis.
