Job Description

Insight Investment is looking for an Associate Developer to join the Risk team in London. In this role, you will work closely with the business and be involved in all aspects of the systems development life cycle (SDLC) across different business areas within Insight.

This team is aligned with the Global Investment Risk Management function and supports the Risk and Analytics platform. The main features of the platform are:

  • Production and processing of risk related metrics such as VaR, stress tests and other analytics
  • Bespoke tools to analyse Liquidity risk and Collateral requirements
  • Self-service and Dashboard style reporting architecture providing position data, risk analytics and performance for the Risk and Investment teams as well as the wider firm

Role Responsibilities

As a Developer, beyond your day-to-day development work you will:

  • Take ownership for driving change and innovation
  • Present information concisely to individuals within and outside of the Technology function
  • Participate in and, where appropriate, lead meetings with business stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other developers and take an active role in designing new systems and functionality
  • Quickly analyse and fix problems as they occur (expected 30% BAU)

Experience Required

  • Recent university graduate or a graduate with experience in a development role
  • Experience with Object Oriented Programming
  • Good understanding of data structures and algorithms
  • Understanding of SQL databases
  • Good analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Keen to learn about the business domain (Risk)
  • Stand by software engineering principles around quality and doing things the right way
  • Have a constant desire to improve knowledge and drive adoption of new technology or approaches within the team
  • Own mistakes and work with your colleagues to redress them, learn from them and make improvements for the long-term
  • Be able to communicate abstract or complex ideas or solutions effectively
