Role OverviewThe Associate Chief Midwife plays a key part of the Midwifery leadership team, providing senior professional leadership and supporting the Director of Midwifery in delivering high quality, safe, effective maternity and gynaecology care across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership and support to the Director of Midwifery and to the wider midwifery team.
- Lead initiatives to improve patient safety, quality of care and service delivery across maternity and neonatal units.
- Influence and collaborate with Lead Midwives, Senior Charge Nurses, midwives and other senior clinical staff to implement best practice.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary working with obstetric, anaesthetic, and public health colleagues.
- Advise on and shape the implementation of the Maternity and Neonatal strategy.
- Support workforce development, clinical education and continuous professional development.
- Master's level education in midwifery or related healthcare discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in clinical midwifery leadership, management and quality improvement.
- Strong track record of providing high quality midwifery care in a range of settings.
- Proven ability to develop and present evidence based improvements to senior managers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to evaluate complex data.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and CPD.
