Full Time Assistant Psychologist

Starting Salary: £27,825 p/a

Cygnet Healthcare is seeking to recruit a full time, experienced and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join Cygnet Salford Lodge in Salford, Greater Manchester. This role will be working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

Cygnet Salford Lodge

Cygnet Lodge Salford is a high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for women. The service supports 24 individuals with a primary diagnosis of mental illness, but they may also have a complex secondary diagnosis, including a personality disorder.

Women often come to us following multiple placement breakdowns, failed treatment programmes or they may be stepping down from secure settings. The service has been designed with wellness in mind, providing a safe and comfortable environment that promotes efficient rehabilitation and recovery. Our aim is to understand, stabilise and break the traumatic cycles of relapse that can impact individual's lives.

Job Role

The role of the Assistant Psychologist will be to support and enhance the psychological care of clients within Cygnet Salford Lodge by assisting the Qualified Psychologist in the delivery and evaluation of effective psychological services. The post holder will help understand, prevent and ameliorate psychological distress and disorder and improve mental health and wellbeing of clients. The role involves the administration, scoring and report writing of psychometric assessments, standardised risk assessments, clinical formulation and supervised individual and group interventions. Clinical supervision will be provided as an important part of personal and professional development, and additional training will be supported.

Candidate Profile

You will be a strong team player, confident, motivated and well organised. You will have a good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries, clinical risk and the importance of evidence-based interventions. Patience and commitment are essential, but above all you'll be someone with a genuine desire to help others. We are looking for someone with a good degree in Psychology, further postgraduate training in relevant area of applied psychology and mental health is desirable.

Previous experience of working within in-patient mental health services and settings is essential. At least 6 months previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist and delivering 1:1 therapeutic work and group therapy sessions is desirable. All candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and reference checks.
