Assistant Professor in Economics (Teaching & Scholarship track)

Position Overview

Assistant Professor in Economics (Teaching & Scholarship track) at Northeastern University London (NU London). Full time, fixed term. Salary range G8 £49,469 to £57,316, progressing to £60,795 once in post. Start date: 1 August 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver innovative, inclusive teaching in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics at undergraduate level.
• Teach to diverse student cohorts, including domestic degree students, exchange students and London Scholars.
• Provide service to the discipline and Faculty, supporting academic programmes and student needs.
• Participate in professional service appropriate to career stage.

Person Specification Qualifications

• PhD completed (or near completion) in Economics or a closely related discipline (essential).
• FHEA status, or equivalent, achieved or in progress (desirable).

Key Criteria

• Excellent teaching demonstrating adaptability, innovation and inclusivity.
• Teaching competency in Microeconomics and Macroeconomics at undergraduate level (Levels 4-6).
• Experience working with diverse student cohorts, including international and study abroad students.
• Ability to develop engaging, experiential learning across Economics courses.
• Flexibility to teach a range of courses, collaborating with specialists from other disciplines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation skills, both face to face and online.
• Strong IT skills and evidence of integrating technology into learning and teaching.
• Effective time management and organisational skills.
• Willingness to undertake continuous professional development in themes such as sustainability, finance, technology, health economics and ethics.
