Job Description
Assistant Principal (Inclusion) / SENCO - Mitcham

Our client, an outstanding and highly regarded secondary academy in Mitcham, is seeking an exceptional Assistant Principal (Inclusion) to lead their SEND provision as SENCO.

This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing, values-driven school and step into a well-established SENCO role with strong systems already in place.

Benefits of joining this school
  • Outstanding Ofsted (May 2024) with a strong reputation for inclusion and excellence
  • A genuinely supportive, close-knit staff culture where wellbeing is prioritised
  • High-quality professional development, with many staff describing the school as "feeling like a family"
  • Strong, collaborative leadership at all levels with a shared commitment to improvement
  • Excellent student outcomes, including Progress 8 of +0.7 and strong post-16 destinations
  • A diverse and inclusive school community where every student is valued

The school's recent Ofsted report highlights warm and respectful relationships between staff and pupils, a community that staff and students are proud to be part of, and a culture where diversity is celebrated at every turn.

Parents and carers speak highly of the school, and leaders are well-supported by both governors and the wider trust.

About the SENCO role
  • As Assistant Principal and SENCO, you will take strategic leadership of SEND and inclusion across the school.
  • You will build on the strong foundations already in place, working closely with staff, families and external agencies to ensure excellent provision and outcomes for all learners.
  • The successful candidate will be an organised, driven and passionate SENCO or inclusion leader.
  • You must hold the NASENCO qualification or be working towards it, with completion required by September 2026.
  • Previous experience in a SENCO or similar whole-school inclusion role is highly desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious SENCO to make a lasting impact within a thriving and inclusive school.
