Job Description

The Home Intervention Team (HIT) provides intensive support to young people and families already known to the core Eating Disorders team. Its aims are to prevent inpatient admission, support early discharge, assist young people with complex comorbidities, and ensure safe monitoring of those at high physical or psychological risk. The team is nurse led and works closely with the wider CAMHS Eating Disorders multidisciplinary team. HIT currently includes skilled assistant practitioners trained in mealtime support, distress tolerance and anxiety management. The team benefits from close links with CAMHS colleagues, reflective practice and ongoing professional development. The postholder will support patients and families at home and in clinic, requiring strong rapport building skills and an understanding of the challenges faced by young people with eating disorders. You will contribute to delivering high quality, effective and innovative care, combining physical health monitoring with psychosocial support. Although clinical tasks from the JD are not required, you will be expected to recognise and escalating physical health concerns. Main duties of the job
  • To provide therapeutic support for families and young people both within their homes and within clinic who present with eating disorders; to offer meal support and guidance, low intensity therapeutic interventions and to work within the guiding principles of family based treatment.
  • To be part of a diverse multi disciplinary team and work alongside colleagues, supporting other core aspects of team functioning such as initial assessments.
  • To be able to assess risk (physical and mental health) and escalation concerns appropriately to senior colleagues, e.g. undertaking basic physical observations including weight, height, blood pressure and pulse.
  • To work proactively as part of an MDT and attend team meetings, contribute to clinical discussion and to contribute to project work appropriate for the specified role.
