Job Description

The Assistant MDT Coordinator provides essential administration to the Cancer Services team, working under the supervision of the MDT Coordinator to ensure accurate patient tracking and timely data entry into cancer information systems. The post holder will assist in monitoring cancer pathways, identifying capacity issues and escalating breaches to maintain compliance with national cancer waiting time standards. They will help manage MDT related documentation and coordinate actions following meetings as directed and contribute to site specific data collection. The role requires strong organisation skills, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining confidentiality and supporting the smooth running of cancer services.

Main duties of the job

Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Multi-Disciplinary Team, MDT co-ordinators and Cancer Services Directorate.

Monitor and track patients through diagnostic and treatment pathways, proactively resolving or escalating delays to meet Cancer Waiting Times (CWT) and standards (2WW, 28-day, 31- and 62-day) in line with standard operating procedures.

Assist with tracking patients referred to Tertiary trusts for both first and subsequent treatments for cancer.

Assist with tracking the first subsequent treatment for all cancer patients in a timely manner and following local procedures and policies to escalate delays.

Person Specification Education & Qualifications
  • Level 3 Business Administration qualification or equivalent experience
  • Good general education (Equivalent in English and Maths)
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Advanced keyboard skills
  • Proficiency in using office systems and managing electronic patient administration systems
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to multitask
  • Excellent organisational skills; ability to prioritise workload effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written at all levels within an organisation and with outside agencies
Experience
  • Administrative experience in healthcare setting
  • Good working knowledge of Maxims & related systems
