The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join an established and growing business based in Milton Keynes.

Working as part of a supportive Finance team, you'll play an important role in delivering accurate and timely financial information while supporting budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.

This is a great opportunity for a part-qualified accountant looking to develop their management accounting experience within a commercially focused environment. You'll work closely with teams across the business, gaining broad exposure while helping to improve financial processes, controls and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

As Assistant Management Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes and working with operational teams to gather relevant information
• Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Preparing and analysing key financial reports to provide insight into business performance
• Monitoring and controlling costs in line with business objectives
• Assisting with the preparation of financial information for internal and external audits
• Working with the wider Finance team to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
• Supporting VAT and other statutory compliance requirements
• Contributing to ad hoc financial projects and wider business improvement initiatives

About You

We're looking for someone who is commercially minded, analytical and keen to continue developing their accounting career.

Ideally, you will have:

• Part-qualified status with ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification, or be actively working towards qualification
• Previous experience within a management accounting or similar finance role
• A strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls and reporting
• Excellent Excel skills and experience using accounting software
• Experience with ERP systems would be advantageous
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• The confidence to communicate and work effectively with colleagues across different departments
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• A proactive, positive approach and willingness to learn and develop
