Your new role:

The Assistant Financial Director will support the CFO in providing strategic financial leadership across the organisation. The postholder will be responsible for overseeing Commercial, Operational and Management Finance functions, ensuring robust financial control, high-quality reporting, and insightful financial analysis to support decision-making and organisational performance.
The role will contribute to financial strategy development, business planning, and performance management while ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Day to day responsibility for the Finance function within Pro Carrier.
  • Act as a key member of the senior finance leadership team, supporting the CFO in delivering the organisation's financial strategy.
  • Provide professional leadership and management to the Commercial, Operational and Management Finance teams.
  • Drive a culture of financial accountability and continuous improvement across the organisation.
  • Deputise for the CFO as required.
  • Oversee the review and submission of monthly management accounts, forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial information and reporting.
  • Lead the production of financial analysis and performance reports for senior management and Board/Executive committees.
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and year-end processes in collaboration with Financial Accounting teams.
  • Support the Commercial Finance function, providing financial support to business units and operational teams.
  • Provide high-quality financial advice on investment appraisals, business cases and major projects.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure effective cost control and value for money initiatives across the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies and internal controls.
  • Support external and internal audit processes.
  • Identify financial risks and contribute to mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain strong financial governance frameworks across all finance functions.
  • Line manage and develop managers and staff within Commercial, Operational and Management Finance teams.
  • Set clear objectives and performance standards for team members.
  • Support training, professional development and succession planning.
  • Promote collaborative working and high performance culture within the finance function.
  • Lead and support finance transformation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Improve financial systems, reporting tools and forecasting methodologies.
  • Champion best practice in management accounting and business partnering.
What you'll need to succeed:
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • 3-5 years' post qualification experience in a senior finance role.
  • Proven experience overseeing Management Finance and Commercial/Operational Finance functions.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting at senior level.
  • Ability to provide strategic financial insight and challenge to senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, governance and compliance.
