We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing to lead our clinical and operational teams. The successful individual will ensure the highest standards of care, compliance, and resident wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Director of Nursing in the overall governance and management of the nursing home.
• Provide strong clinical leadership and oversight of nursing and social care delivery, ensuring high standards of person-centred care.
• Support the management of admissions, transitions, transfers and occupancy, ensuring residents experience a safe and well-coordinated process.
• Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with residents, families and external stakeholders, including HIQA, HSE, GPs and other healthcare professionals.
• Support the DON with HR functions, workforce planning, recruitment, staff development, mentoring and performance management.
• Support effective day-to-day administrative and operational management of the home.
• Work collaboratively with the management team to ensure the facility and services provide a safe, comfortable and high-quality environment for residents and staff.
• Conduct and oversee clinical audits, identify areas for improvement and support the implementation and monitoring of appropriate action plans.
• Ensure clinical and operational risks are proactively identified, assessed, managed, reported and escalated appropriately.
• Support the nursing home in maintaining the highest standards of regulatory and legislative compliance, with a strong focus on HIQA requirements, clinical governance, risk management and continuous quality improvement.
• Support the preparation for and management of regulatory inspections, ensuring any required actions are addressed effectively and within agreed timelines.
• Promote effective communication and collaboration across the multidisciplinary team.
• Foster a positive, inclusive and supportive workplace culture where staff feel valued, empowered and accountable, while promoting teamwork, open communication and a shared commitment to excellent resident care.
• Lead by example and actively promote the organisation's CARA Values in all aspects of the role.

Candidate Requirements

• Registered General Nurse with current registration on the NMBI register.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in nursing older persons within the previous 6 years.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a management role within health or social care.
• Strong leadership, organisational, communication and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrable commitment to continuous professional development.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary management team.
• Must be eligible to obtain Garda Clearance and provide suitable references.
• Must have the right to work in Ireland.

A postgraduate or post-registration qualification, or a willingness to undertake further study, in one of the following areas:

• Nursing Management
• Gerontology
