Assistant Director, Borough Partnerships

Location: West Drayton, West London
Salary: £95,000 to £119,000

West London Waste Authority (WLWA) is seeking a dynamic Assistant Director, Borough Partnerships to lead collaboration across six West London boroughs and drive the Authority's communications, partnerships, and programme sustainability agenda.

Responsibilities
  • Build trusted relationships with borough leaders and Members, oversee corporate communications and PR, and ensure effective governance of cross-borough working groups.
  • Take responsibility for programme sustainability-including policy horizon scanning, funding pipeline management, and benefits reporting-and shape WLWA's impact on Net Zero and the Circular Economy.
  • Manage a small team, delegated budgets, and commissioned agencies, ensuring value-for-money and high-quality outcomes.
  • Act as a key advisor to the Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team, ensuring WLWA is positioned as a credible, innovative system partner.
Requirements / The ideal candidate
  • Substantial experience in communications, PR, and stakeholder engagement, with a proven track record of partnership building, media handling, and crisis communications.
  • Strong leadership skills, political acumen, and experience in programme sustainability.
  • Professional qualifications (CIPR/PRCA, project management) are desirable.
