We are recruiting an Aspiring Psychologist to join a supportive and inclusive school in Barking and Dagenham. This is an excellent opportunity to work as a SEN Teaching Assistant, gaining valuable hands-on experience supporting pupils with special educational needs.

As an Aspiring Psychologist, you will work closely with children and young people with autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. Based in Barking and Dagenham, this role allows you to build practical experience within education and training, ideal for those considering future careers in psychology, therapy, or teaching.

The role:

Working as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping them access learning, regulate emotions, and develop independence. This Aspiring Psychologist role provides meaningful exposure to evidence-based strategies, interventions, and inclusive practice, supported by ongoing education and training.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 support to pupils with SEN
• Supporting small groups with learning and engagement
• Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
• Adapting resources to meet individual learning needs
• Supporting behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development
• Monitoring and recording pupil progress
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
• Creating a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
• Supporting pupils during transitions and unstructured times
